What We Do

lesotoAction Lesotho is involved in community development & training in the following areas:

• Agriculture & homestead gardening
• Education (from primary level to adults)
• Enterprise development
• Healthcare and HIV/AIDS
• Disability e.g. facilitation of access to education
• Orphans and Vulnerable Children

We work in Ireland & Lesotho in partnership with charities, community groups, development agencies and government departments. Schools, colleges and even embassies help us to work towards our aim which is to create sustainable and thriving communities in Lesotho.

Micro-Projects

Ha Chonapase Pig Project

Pig ProjectThis is one of Action Lesotho micro-enterprise projects. A cooperative of 14 members who are breeding, rearing and fattening pigs for the meat market have been trained in pig rearing.

They have built stys and now they are working to expand their business by building farrowing houses.

Action Lesotho provided a loan which supported start-up costs. This loan can be paid back to Action Lesotho either through work on other Action Lesotho projects or in cash.

This group have chosen to start repaying their loan by building keyhole gardens for sick clients on the Malimpo Feeding Programme.
