Get Involved

We need your support as we work to build flourishing communities in Lesotho.

Apart from donating or organising a local fundraising event, there are many other ways to help support our work in Lesotho.

IRELAND

Action Lesotho Bookshop

BookshopAction Lesotho has a second hand bookshop in The Mall, Tralee, Co. Kerry which raises up to €10,000/annum. The shop is staffed by volunteers and the manager Bridget, would be delighted to hear from people wishing to volunteer a few hours of their time each week. Donations of good quality books are always appreciated, or just drop in and browse. There are books to suit everyone, including antique collectors’ items. Contact: Bridget O’Connell – bpoconnell@eircom.net

Expertise

Action Lesotho has no paid staff in Ireland, but we have volunteers with expertise in areas such as International development, agriculture, medicine, education and business. This expertise is utilised to inform our policies and also to mentor staff in Lesotho. Help is also needed with areas such as fundraising and financial oversight in Ireland. If you feel you have relevant expertise and would like to volunteer in Ireland, please contact us via info@actionlesotho.ie

LESOTHO

Volunteer_MargotAction Lesotho sends a limited number of volunteers to Lesotho, but volunteer involvement is encouraged when a specific role has been identified that meets local needs and where a volunteer from Lesotho or overseas has the required skills to meet that need. Our basic requirement is that volunteers have the ability to pass on skills which are relevant to one of our programmes in Lesotho. Typically our volunteers are either professionals (working or retired) or post-graduate students. Examples of volunteers roles to date have include training people to become English teachers, teaching carers to provide physiotherapy to disabled children, delivering woodwork classes to unemployed adults and passing on practical craft skills e.g. spinning. Applicants wishing to volunteer in Lesotho should contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Pippa Kearon, by email at actionlesothopippa@gmail.com
