Clay Shooting in Cork

Clay pigeon shooting or clay target shooting is a sport that involves firing at inanimate clay targets. The ‘pigeon’ terminology has carried over from previous generations when live pigeon competitions would have been held.

Today clay shooting is a modern sport that tests speed and co-ordination. There are over 20 different disciplines within the sport, to provide challenges for competitors at every level.

Who can try Clay Pigeon Shooting?

Anyone aged 14 years and over can try clay pigeon shooting. Cork gun clubs cater for individuals and groups who would like to have a go a clay shooting, and they’ll offer help to novices as well as to shotgun licence holders.

What Do I Need to Learn?

Your local Cork gun club will help you to learn all aspects safety, gun handling, shooting etiquette, and safety procedures. They will also introduce you to different clay disciplines and shooting techniques.
