AGM 2016
BRIEFING BY MARIAN HARKIN MEP ON THE EU COMMISSON’S PROPOSALS FOR AMENDMENTS TO THE WEAPONS DIRECTIVE
On April 23rd a meeting between Marian Harkin MEP and representatives of the shooting sports communities was held in Athlone. The new proposed EU Commission revised Firearms Directive 91/477/EEC was discussed in detail. The meeting agreed that Marian would propose and work towards getting other MEP support for the Amendments suggested by FACE in general and we thank her for supporting us . There were a few new additional proposals and some alterations suggested also. The opportunity for proposed amendments to be accepted was the 27th April. After that the committee will look at all the proposed EU State amendments and come to an agreed re-worded Directive. That amended document will then be presented around mid June and the process goes on. The end result could at this stage be anything so only time will tell. A close eye does need to be kept on the issue to ensure that nothing slips past.
A link to the FACE proposal is shown below:
Federation Qualifying Clay Shoot at Belgooly/ Ballingarry Clay Target Grounds 24/04/2016
The Federation Qualifying Clay Shoot at Belgooly/ Ballingarry Clay Target Grounds was held on the 24/06/2016. The weather for once was ideal for both the preperation and event days. A large attendance was the run of the day and all participants enjoyed the sport and the craic. For this event the layout was changed and it was set up to resemble the All Ireland theme with a 50 Bird Sporting layout over 8 stations. While this initially seemed strange all competitors quickly got into the swing and all enjoyed it very much and competitors complemented the committee on the day. Some very good scores were logged and indeed very low scores were not evident at all. The next shoot to be held in Dunmanway Clay Target grounds on the 29th May will present a similar layout.
