On April 03rd 2016 the Federation Qualifying Clay Shoot hosted by Bandon and Gaggin Game Protection Association took place at Mawbeg. The crews doing the set up on Sat and Sunday morning had to deal with inclement weather however the day dried up and the bulk of the shoot enjoyed the good weather. It did naturally rain for the latter end but did not dampen spirits. The venue located in an old quarry turned out to be ideal as it allowed the set up team to put together a very diverse and challenging layout and was easily and safely managed in the tightly controlled area. Ample vehicle parking was a further boon. A very large turnout attended and a great day was had by all. A selection of photos have been kindly organised by Bandon club and are displayed under the clay shooting menu.
Under current legislation, from March 31, 2016, all dogs must be microchipped, their details registered on an approved database, and their owners must have a certificate from the database to prove this.
There have been a period during 2015 when some locations provided free microchipping. Most people were not aware of that at the time. Looking at the internet it would appear that a current offer is underway. ( see details below taken from the National Chipping Month web site http://www.ncm.ie/participants-2016/)

In the aftermath of Storm Desmond, severe flooding on several roads was the only impediment that presented problems, but not insurmountable ones to the dedicated shooters that turned up at the Dunmanway Clay Shooting grounds today.
The organisers having checked that the venue was okay and safe set up the course on what turned out to be a beautiful mild and dry day. A large shooting complement turned out to participate and a very successful day was had. Credit must be shared by both the organising team and by the visiting shooters.
